Few bands are as widely known to the metal world as the perhaps well-named
Metallica, which came together over three decades ago (1981) to rock the realm of thrash. Their line-up currently is
James Hetfield,
Lars Ulrich,
Kirk Hammett, and
Robert Trujillo; they are still racking up years for the band.
Metallica has seen a lot of support from its fans in times some would consider a 'purer'
Metallica, full of the unique thrash that these fans want to hear. The band has also witnessed a lot of anger, coincidentally, at
St. Anger,
Metallica's second-to-last album (at time-of-writing, early 2012). Recently, they have brought a bit of their fan-base back with their newest work,
Death Magnetic, but the band has already sustained heavy damage.
What future lays in store for
Metallica is up to the fans. If they are forgiving,
Metallica may soon make a strong comeback. However, should fans stand stalwart on the matter, then we will likely see the end of a once-great band.
