United States of America (USA)

My apologies to the foreigners that visit my blog, because today's post is all about the home country of this college kid: the United States of America. The country that fought for its independence from colonial English expansion well over two centuries ago stays strong even today, and this post celebrates that.

These high definition wallpapers will satisfy even the pickiest patriotic students of desktops and backgrounds, so dig in and enjoy if you're looking for a little red, white, and blue to adorn your computer screen. Go crazy with some patriotic spirit!

Steampunk

Steampunk is an excellent fashion and genre that has sparked interested lately among the younger generation, namely teens and young adults in colleges and high school. While it may be a younger fashion trend, it has all of the markings of something old. The entire theme is Victorian English!

Below are some great, high quality wallpapers that give you a bit of a view into the ideas of a steampunk lover. If you like what you see, go ahead and look up some more about the theme and see what you think!

High Tech

Technology is perhaps the epitome of human accomplishment, and one of the greatest reasons why we, as a species, so greatly estimate our "success" in evolution. We celebrate technology in not just our conscious life, but in our subconscious life as well. One cannot go long without encountering technology in some form, especially computers and phones.

Humans try to encourage technological innovation by sending students to schools and colleges / universities, where they learn fascinating knowledge for subjects far and wide, much of the purpose of which is to encourage mental advancement, and thus our societal and technological advancement.

Guns and Artillery

Though they may be often seen as machines of death thanks to their nearly ubiquitous use in warring (on both a guerilla scale and a tactical scale), guns and their kin are actually quite beautiful machines. It has taken much ingenuity over hundreds of years to arrive at the efficiency of firearms we have now (thank you college classes for teaching me that!).

So try enjoy these wonderful machines in high definition wallpapers below!

Monday Fun-day: Sketch Wallpapers

I am quite fond of the "sketch" type of art in all sorts of artwork, so it is only fitting that I at least give one of the Monday Fun-day themes to sketched wallpapers. Below are some that were drawn in pencil, pen, and even on a computer program. Once, back when I was a student in high school, I took an art class and most of what I made was sketched, haha.

Also, if you pay attention, you Whovians out there can catch a great wallpaper for fans of the series. ;D

College (or University) and High School Graduations

As June nears its end and July fast approaches, many of us find ourselves at least involved with, if not participating in, some sort of graduation ceremonies, whether it be the local college or university's parties down the street, or your own family member's last day at school.

To celebrate one of the most proud moments in many lives across the country (and even around the world, for those who graduate at similar times to US citizens), I bring you excellent, high definition, quality resolution wallpapers with which to adorn your computer screens.

Congratulations to the classes of 2012!

Wednesday Music #20: The Doors

The year is 1965, right in the midst of the psychedelic rock phase. The setting: Los Angeles, California, a bustling, modernly urban city by then. A new band is forming: The Doors. Ray Manzarek at the keyboard. Robby Krieger on the guitar. John Densmore playing the drums. And, of course, Jim Morrison for vocals.

It was Jim Morrison's hypnotizing, exotic songwriting and his devilishly interesting stage persona that boosted the band to fame. After his untimely death in '71, the rest of the band struggled on for a few years before ultimately breaking up in '73. In their rollercoaster ride of infamy, they created many huge hits that still make it on the playlists of younger students from high schools to colleges and older free spirits alike.
