Back to School Wallpapers (College/University Edition)

As August draws to a close, and September lurks just around the corner, college/university students all around the country (and quite possibly the world) are getting ready for new, fall-semester classes. Since I'm sure there's plenty of students who are excited to start classes or get back into campus life, it seems like a good idea to put up some back to school wallpapers.

Unfortunately, it's actually quite a bit harder to find back to school wallpapers than I thought. Cursory searches showed very little that I could actually use! :O So, while we are one short of my usual 5 minimum high definition wallpapers today, I think we'll be able to manage, right? :P

Check out the wallpapers below!

Puppies and Dogs

One time, when I was several years younger and searching through the rows and rows of books in an old, cheap bookstore, I discovered a particularly informative book about the many kinds of dogs that were around, from domestic American dogs to exotic Asian and European breeds.

So, to celebrate the awesomeness of dogs (and the cuteness of puppies), I bring you these high definition wallpapers featuring not many kinds of canine participating in various activities (including the act of being irresistibly adorable). Check it out!

Wednesday Music: Daft Punk

If you have ever seen the Tron: Legacy movie, two things (okay, maybe three) will stand out above all else. The first are the visuals, of course. The movie employs jaw-dropping visual effects and CGI to create a wondrous world inside of The Grid, showing off not only their artistic talent, but their massive budget as well. Olivia Wilde may or may not be one of those things, depending on your tastes (but if it is, she was smokin' in her role), and so the second thing is the music.
Music done by Daft Punk, that is. They are so appreciated that they even make it into the movie (albeit under the masks and guises of robotic/high-technological club DJs in The Grid). The music for the movie was even a huge hit outside of the cinema world, as well.

The band does, however, have a rich history long before the Tron: Legacy movie. Daft Punk has even done their own venture into the world of movies: Interstella 555. The entire movie is played to the tune of Daft Punk, and its definitely something else.

Whether you're a young student who loves electronic music or an old geezer who has "hip" taste, check out these awesome high definition wallpapers!

Steampunk

Steampunk is an excellent fashion and genre that has sparked interested lately among the younger generation, namely teens and young adults in colleges and high school. While it may be a younger fashion trend, it has all of the markings of something old. The entire theme is Victorian English!

Below are some great, high quality wallpapers that give you a bit of a view into the ideas of a steampunk lover. If you like what you see, go ahead and look up some more about the theme and see what you think!

College (or University) and High School Graduations

As June nears its end and July fast approaches, many of us find ourselves at least involved with, if not participating in, some sort of graduation ceremonies, whether it be the local college or university's parties down the street, or your own family member's last day at school.

To celebrate one of the most proud moments in many lives across the country (and even around the world, for those who graduate at similar times to US citizens), I bring you excellent, high definition, quality resolution wallpapers with which to adorn your computer screens.

Congratulations to the classes of 2012!

Sci Fi [Science Fiction] Wallpapers

Fans of science fiction shows and movies will love today's post. Students of all series, from Star Trek to Star Wars to Stargate, can all appreciate the high definition (HD) wallpapers below. Science fiction has pretty much been my lifeline through these (somewhat boring) college days, keeping me entertained and stimulated mentally.

Gotta love sci fi!

Wednesday Music #20: The Doors

The year is 1965, right in the midst of the psychedelic rock phase. The setting: Los Angeles, California, a bustling, modernly urban city by then. A new band is forming: The Doors. Ray Manzarek at the keyboard. Robby Krieger on the guitar. John Densmore playing the drums. And, of course, Jim Morrison for vocals.

It was Jim Morrison's hypnotizing, exotic songwriting and his devilishly interesting stage persona that boosted the band to fame. After his untimely death in '71, the rest of the band struggled on for a few years before ultimately breaking up in '73. In their rollercoaster ride of infamy, they created many huge hits that still make it on the playlists of younger students from high schools to colleges and older free spirits alike.

Saturday Quotes #1: Words to Live By, Part One

Everyone needs a quote now and again, whether that quote be for inspiration, or for some dormant truth. Let the realization begin; open your mind. These quotes will hopefully get the gears in your brain churning, and in no time you will see the world a little bit more clearly.

"...when the sun comes up, you better be running."

"...Just one bad day."

"Give [man] a mask, and he will tell you the truth."

"...Because if you can't kill, then you are always subject to those who can."
