Back to School Wallpapers (College/University Edition)

As August draws to a close, and September lurks just around the corner, college/university students all around the country (and quite possibly the world) are getting ready for new, fall-semester classes. Since I'm sure there's plenty of students who are excited to start classes or get back into campus life, it seems like a good idea to put up some back to school wallpapers.

Unfortunately, it's actually quite a bit harder to find back to school wallpapers than I thought. Cursory searches showed very little that I could actually use! :O So, while we are one short of my usual 5 minimum high definition wallpapers today, I think we'll be able to manage, right? :P

Friday Sports: LA Kings

The LA Kings have won the Stanley Cup this 2012 season, and so to prepare the blog for the hockey fans who will inevitably be searching on Google and whatnot for Los Angeles Kings high definition wallpapers and backgrounds, I have created this post.

Also, I apologize for my recent inactivity (to anyone who might be reading these posts). As I have said before, I'm a student at college and sometimes I can get a little wrapped up in the work and studying, stuff like that, so my posts can get a bit delayed. We will be back on track quite soon!

Check out the wallpapers below!

Wednesday Music #20: The Doors

The year is 1965, right in the midst of the psychedelic rock phase. The setting: Los Angeles, California, a bustling, modernly urban city by then. A new band is forming: The Doors. Ray Manzarek at the keyboard. Robby Krieger on the guitar. John Densmore playing the drums. And, of course, Jim Morrison for vocals.

It was Jim Morrison's hypnotizing, exotic songwriting and his devilishly interesting stage persona that boosted the band to fame. After his untimely death in '71, the rest of the band struggled on for a few years before ultimately breaking up in '73. In their rollercoaster ride of infamy, they created many huge hits that still make it on the playlists of younger students from high schools to colleges and older free spirits alike.

Friday Sports #5: New York Yankees

"The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the The Bronx, New York. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) in the American League's East Division. One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1901 as the Baltimore Orioles. The team moved to New York City in 1903 as the New York Highlanders, taking the Yankees as their official name in 1913.[1] From 1923 to 2008, the Yankees' home ballpark was Yankee Stadium; in 2009, they moved into a new ballpark, also called Yankee Stadium." -Wikipedia

Monday Fun-day #17: The Ocean

The ocean is one of our most beautiful resources, and luckily for us water covers over seventy percent of our Earth. Though it can be both the calmest of elements and the most rollicking of tempests, the ocean has always intrigued mankind. It is because of this that we have traversed it so well, and discovered new lands. However, there is much we do not know still about the ocean.

What we do know is that if we continue to destroy our planet, all of our precious water will be the first to go. Already, beaches are filthy and rivers are polluted, but we can still bounce back. The oceans and the rain will revitalize our efforts if we just give it a try.

Love your ocean.

Tuesday Girls #15: Anime Girls

Tuesday Girls continues with number 15 in the series -- and this time, it is on lovely anime girls. We bring you high definition wallpapers of these gorgeous women, drawn in the Japanese equivalent of Western cartoons. Anime has been growing steadily in America over the past several decades, taking up much of the enthusiasm previously contained to Western cartoon styles.

As it turns out, anime is based on the comic-book style also from Japan that is know as manga. Manga-style drawing (and its child, the anime-style animation) has been long enough to gain a critical position around the world. Japan today still arguably dominates the manga/anime world, though countries like Korea and the U.S. are beginning to pick up pace.

If you want to get into the anime craze, go ahead and check out some of the beautiful anime women that adorn the high definition wallpapers following this. If there isn't anything here for your particular style, then check our other great categories; I am willing to be we have something for you here at Hi.Def.Walls. ;]

Sunday Landscapes #8: Canyons

It's time to pay tribute to the awesome, beautiful structures that are canyons with some of these high definition wallpapers. Canyons are usually formed when monolithic glaciers unlike any we have seen in ages carved paths through the ground when they scraped across it. Rivers can also erode the landscape, making it so that a small river bed lies at the bottom of many canyons.

Sunday Landscapes #6: Forest/Jungle

"There are few things much prettier than the Earth itself is. Our lovely planet has quite a selection of gorgeous, loveable traits about it that has always attracted our love for sensation. Whether it is a city block, or a college campus, or even the suburbs, it can never quite measure up to the novelty of nature in this respect, and from the country to the ocean, our passion for the earth has continually been piqued. Check out these following high definition wallpapers." -Sunday Landscapes #3
