Wednesday Music #9: Metallica

Few bands are as widely known to the metal world as the perhaps well-named Metallica, which came together over three decades ago (1981) to rock the realm of thrash. Their line-up currently is James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo; they are still racking up years for the band.

Metallica has seen a lot of support from its fans in times some would consider a 'purer' Metallica, full of the unique thrash that these fans want to hear. The band has also witnessed a lot of anger, coincidentally, at St. Anger, Metallica's second-to-last album (at time-of-writing, early 2012). Recently, they have brought a bit of their fan-base back with their newest work, Death Magnetic, but the band has already sustained heavy damage.

What future lays in store for Metallica is up to the fans. If they are forgiving, Metallica may soon make a strong comeback. However, should fans stand stalwart on the matter, then we will likely see the end of a once-great band.

[SPECIAL] Vernal Equinox -- Spring

Depending on which hemisphere you are on (the United States is in the northern hemisphere, along with the rest of North America, Europe, and much of Asia; Australia and the rest of Oceania, southern Africa, and southern South America are in the southern hemisphere), the vernal equinox is the beginning indicator of spring or autumn -- spring in the north, autumn in the south.

"Equinox" means equal night: equi meaning equal, and nox meaning night. This is so because the Sun is directly positioned above the equator, and it spends equal time in day and night during this time. On this day, March 20th, the vernal equinox signals spring here in America, and everyone here knows what happens around spring -- Spring Break in the schools (especially universities!).

So get into the spring spirit with these high definition wallpapers!
